Manjari Jaruhar

Chairperson - Committee on Private Security Industry, Advisor – TCS, Retd. Special Director General – CISF

Ms. Manjari Jaruhar retired as Special Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). She is one of the first five women police officers in India and the first from the state of Bihar. She was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1976 and has held positions in the State Governments of Bihar and Jharkhand, the National Police Academy (NPA), the CISF and the Central Reserve Protection Force (CRPF).

She has led teams in a wide range of complex and challenging assignments that have prepared her for a career in the private and social sector. From fighting crime to administering a massive organisation, Ms. Jaruhar has shown exemplary leadership in a domain traditionally dominated by men.

Ms. Manjari Jaruhar is presently an Advisor to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) based out of New Delhi. She is also the Chief Coordinator with the Indian Music Industry (IMI) and is a Senior Advisor to 9.9 Media. In addition to this, she recently joined FICCI as its Chairperson of the Committee on Private Security Industry.

She is the recipient of the Government of India’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. She was awarded the Director General’s Commendation Disc for outstanding service twice in the CISF and once when she was with the CRPF.
