Every company is becoming a data company

Summary

Every company is becoming a data company. Data isn't the advantage anymore, trusted data is. 68% of consumers worldwide worry about their online privacy; in India it's 82%, and it's the single biggest factor in whether people trust a brand at all. Opaque algorithms and invisible tracking aren't a data problem. They're a credibility problem, and they land on leadership's desk, not IT's.

Apple builds privacy into the product itself: on-device AI, strict limits on data use. Microsoft ships transparency tools alongside its AI systems. Neither treats it as a compliance checkbox.

The mandate: integrate trust into data strategy, scale ethics alongside AI capability, and design accountability into systems from the start, not after something breaks. People don't read privacy policies. They read signals: who controls their data, how much you know, how long you keep it, who benefits. Users are auditing that trust constantly.
